IndicatorsHandbook.org is a companion to Join Together's new publication, "How do we know we are making a difference? A community alcohol, tobacco, and drug indicators handbook."
This website is designed to be both a standalone guide for users who don't have a print copy of the book, and an up-to-date reference for those who do.
If you already have a copy of the book, this website will provide the online links to data sources, resources, and community stories referred to throughout the publication.
There are two ways to locate the web links referenced in the book:
- Go to "Web links from the book" for an alphabetical list of all online data sources and resources referenced in the print version.
- See the link in context by finding the page on the website corresponding to that of the print copy. To help you navigate this website, the colored tabs in the book associated with each category of indicator are also used here. You can also use the site map.
I do not have the book
This website covers the steps to building an effective indicator reporting program. If you would also like a copy of the printed edition of How do we know we are making a difference?, you can order or download it.
The website is divided into three sections:
- Building your program
- This section covers everything from starting an indicator reporting program to creating an effective indicator report. We recommend that you begin here if you're in the early stages of planning an indicators program.
- Community indicators
- Here you will find a menu of alcohol, tobacco, and drug indicators with examples of what to measure, links to data sources, interpretation guidelines, and other resources.
- Community stories
- The third section features a growing list of examples of what other communities have accomplished using an indicator reporting program.
Tell us your story
Do you already have an indicator pf in your community? We want to hear about it! Tell us your story.
